More delicious lunch
I gave up on Facebook ages ago. I’m disappointed that Twitter is walling up
the garden. What is it that makes Tumblr a better option?
My first interest in using Tumblr is that there is an RSS feed. It’s easy
for me to pipe the feed from any Tumblrer into my feed reader and have just
one place to go to keep current on everything. And it’s dead simple to
archive my own feed. Twitter and Facebook try to force you to go to their
sites or apps to get information, and I just don’t want to have to deal
with all that.
But I still go to the Tumblr dashboard on occasion. Why? Discovery. Tumblr
provides a good interface on their site for finding new Tumblr content.
It’s not something I go to every day, but it’s fairly often.
I hope that the new Yahoo ownership keeps and develops this model. Lock it
down and I’ll surely leave, but as of now you have something that keeps me
coming back, not on a daily basis, but a regular one.
Someone should make a launcher for Android that is sensitive to rotation.
Instead of trying to squish everything into a now wide rectangle that used
to be a tall rectangle, it should give you a fresh set of pages.
So holding my phone in portrait mode I get a page that I’ve filled with my
usual stuff, but turn it on its side and I get my video player and games.
It happened so gradually but now it seems like everyone on Game of Thrones
is sympathetic. Except for Joffrey. That dude is a dick.
Going to start using Tumblr as a kind of Twitter replacement. Tired of the
walled garden thing Twitter is starting to do.
